TBE Wins FICE Grand Award
01/02/2006
TBE’s Northwest Fire & Rescue Station #51 brownfield redevelopment project for the City of Clearwater has won a Grand Award in the Florida Institute of Consulting Engineers (FICE) 2005 Engineering Excellence Awards Competition. This is TBE’s first FICE Grand Award, which will be presented at FICE’s annual meeting in August 2005.
Two other projects were Honorable Mention winners in the competition: TBE’s development of a right-of-way course that has been approved by the Florida Board of Professional Regulations for continuing education credits, and the reevaluation/modification of the C-51 Basin Rule, which addresses Everglades flood control and flood plain management.
The Grand Award Fire Station brownfield project was submitted to FICE under the “Environmental” category, since the site was converted from an environmentally contaminated auto salvage yard into a much-needed fire station. TBE provided site design, environmental assessment/remediation, brownfields consulting, traffic signal design, and construction services.
As a Grand Award winner, TBE is eligible to participate in a national competition sponsored by the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC). The national awards will be presented in April 2005.
