Growing in Canada and Puerto Rico

TBE is experiencing growth on the international front.

TSH/TBE Joint Venture (Canada)

A big 2005 win for TSH/TBE was the recently awarded three-year, $1.5 million Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) master contract with the City of Toronto. The contract begins in 2006 and is the city’s first master contract for SUE services.

Several years ago, TSH/TBE completed Phase 1 of the Regional Municipality of Niagara’s project to locate 12.5 kilometers (approximately 7.75 miles) of it underground water main. This was TSH/TBE’s first joint venture contract award. Regional Niagara, located within the province of Ontario, recently began Phase 2, locating an additional 28 kilometers (18 miles). TSH/TBE is currently providing SUE services for this second phase.

TBE Caribe (Puerto Rico)

TBE is educating the industry SUE and building a diverse client mix. Clients include numerous design consultants, pharmaceutical companies, an aeronautics company, a bank, a thermoelectric plant, the government’s Super Aqueduct project, and the Puerto Rico Port Authority.

Finding Underground Utilities Before the Drilling Rigs Do

An automated people mover (APM) system, part of a $2.6-billion capital development program, is currently under construction at the Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport. The project requires approximately 500 pier shafts to support the train system. Drilling these shafts, however, could result in conflicts with underground utilities, including airport's underground jet fuel distribution system.
