CLEARWATER, FL – James M. Hosler, Economic Redevelopment and Demographics Manager for TBE Group, a full-service international consulting, design and engineering firm, has been appointed the Tampa Bay Regional Representative to the Florida Redevelopment Association (FRA).
With more than 300 public and business agency members, the FRA promotes community preservation and revitalization through development and redevelopment of downtown and other urban areas, designated Community Redevelopment Areas (CRAs), and Main Street program cities.
In 2006, Hosler brought his economic development and demographic expertise to TBE after spending more than 17 years with the Hillsborough County City-County Planning Commission in Tampa, where he was Team Leader for Research and Economic Development.
“Because of his public-sector experience, community involvement, leadership talents, and excellent reputation as an economic and demographics expert, Jim will be a valuable contributor to the Florida Redevelopment Association,” said Director Randy Kranjec, TBE’s Planning Services Group Manager.
“We are pleased that Jim has been appointed as our FRA Tampa Bay Region Representative,” said Carol Westmoreland, FRA Executive Director. “We look forward to working with him to support FRA members locally over the next year. I know he already has several great ideas and plans that our members will want to take advantage of.”
Hosler earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from the University of Florida (Phi Beta Kappa) and a Master of Science degree, with a Demography specialty, from Florida State University. He is a member of the American Planning Association, Florida Economic Development Council, Population Association of America, and the Chambers of Commerce of Ruskin, West Tampa, Ybor City, and North Tampa, where he is also a member of the Board of Directors.
Hosler has received numerous community awards, including the Voces de West Tampa Award from the community of West Tampa, Community Development Award from the Greater Palm River Community Development Corp., Community Involvement Awards from the Tampa/Hillsborough Census Complete Count Committee and the Ruskin Civic Association, Certificate of Appreciation from the Wimauma Civic Association, and the Million Thanks Award from Hillsborough County’s South County Roundtable. He has also received the Advocacy Planner Award from the Sun Coast Section of the American Planning Association’s Florida Chapter, a Certificate of Recognition from the United States Department of Commerce, and a Certificate of Excellence from the United States Census Bureau.
“I am honored and privileged to serve as a board member for the Florida Brownfields Association and as the FBA’s President-elect,” said Register. “The FBA is a voluntary service organization, and our existence and accomplishments depend on involvement of all members. I look forward to working with the FBA executive officers, Rick Keenan and Nandra Weeks, and our members to assist Florida communities in redeveloping brownfields and revitalizing areas that have experienced economic and public health decline.”
