CLEARWATER, FL – TBE Group, a full-service international consulting, design and engineering firm, is pleased to announce the appointment of James M. Hosler as Economic Redevelopment and Demographics Manager. With his recognized demographics expertise, Hosler will oversee demographics and economic research, integrating these areas into TBE’s already robust redevelopment consulting services, which include planning, site development, environmental management, brownfields, GIS, and real estate brokerage.
Hosler joins TBE after more than 17 years with the Hillsborough County City-County Planning Commission in Tampa, where he was Team Leader for Research and Economic Development. In addition to managing the research and planning services staff, Hosler was responsible for special studies and economic development and redevelopment plans for local communities within the county, creating more than $500 million in new public investment. He was instrumental in creating social, economic and demographic regional databases that measure levels of geography smaller than census tracts, and he was recognized as a statewide expert on national, state and local economic and demographic data. Previously, Hosler held numerous positions with the Florida Department of Commerce in Tallahassee, including Economist Analyst, Economist Supervisor, and most recently, Bureau Chief of the Department’s Bureau of Business Assistance.

Hosler earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from the University of Florida (Phi Beta Kappa) and a Master of Science degree, with a Demography specialty, from Florida State University. He is a member of the American Planning Association, Florida Economic Development Council, Population Association of America, and the Chambers of Commerce of Ruskin, West Tampa, Ybor City, and North Tampa, where he is also a member of the Board of Directors.
Hosler has received numerous community awards, including the Voces de West Tampa Award from the community of West Tampa, Community Development Award from the Greater Palm River Community Development Corp., Community Involvement Awards from the Tampa/Hillsborough Census Complete Count Committee and the Ruskin Civic Association, Certificate of Appreciation from the Wimauma Civic Association, and the Million Thanks Award from Hillsborough County’s South County Roundtable. He has also received the Advocacy Planner Award from the Sun Coast Section of the American Planning Association’s Florida Chapter, a Certificate of Recognition from the United States Department of Commerce, and a Certificate of Excellence from the United States Census Bureau.
